Featuring Ellis Marsalis, Green Pasture Baptist Church Choir and Others

Concert proceeds to benefit local food access organizations to fight hunger and feed hope in Greater New Orleans

The concert will be held Thursday, October 15 at 8 p.m.

at the Touro Synagogue, 4238 St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans.

In an effort to focus national attention on New Orleans’ ongoing recovery efforts, international music sensation Neshama Carlebach has announced Go You Forth, a joyous interfaith celebration of song featuring Neshama and the soulful Green Pasture Baptist Church Choir together with the one and only Ellis Marsalis.

Proceeds from the Go You Forth concert will benefit New Orleans area food access organizations including Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans, New Orleans Food & Farm Network and Just the Right Attitude through MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger.

“Music is not only the true universal language, it is our greatest means of healing,” said Carlebach. “New Orleans is the soul of our nation, the heartbeat and pulse of the greatest American creative energy. Through Go You Forth, I’m hoping to bring forth a complete healing for this great city.”

Touro Synagogue has taken a leadership role in this effort, not only by hosting the concert, but by plugging into the social and philanthropic network that exists through the Synagogue’s well-known religious and cultural programs. “This concert will truly illuminate the soul - inward, outward and upward,” said Rabbi Alexis Berk of Touro Synagogue.

In addition to support for local food access organizations, Go You Forth is soliciting sponsorships for the rebuilding of homes through the St. Bernard Project and encouraging communities to organize to help rebuild homes that were devastated by the storm. “The cost of home renovation is between $12,000 and $15,000, due to volunteer labor,” said Zach Rosenburg, director and co-founder of the St. Bernard Project.

The concert will be held Thursday, October 15 at 8 p.m.

at the Touro Synagogue, 4238 St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans.

Tickets are $18 in advance ($20 at the door)
